Blockbuster Express Kiosk CODES

If you've never rented from a Blockbuster Express kiosk before here's some information about them:
Each DVD is $1 per day (some machines may have Blu Rays for an additional charge) & are due back by 9pm on the night after you rent them to avoid getting charged an additional $1.  Even if you use a promo code for a free rental you still have to swipe your credit or debit card in case you keep the movie longer than one day.  You can find out which kiosk has the movie you want by checking on-line here:  http://www.blockbusterexpress.com/
In my area they are only at Circle K, Quik Trip, Safeway & Bashas stores.  Most of these machines are located outside the store.  Sometimes there is a line at the kiosk so give yourself a little bit of extra time if you're trying to return a movie before your 9pm deadline.

Here is a list of different codes I found recently:
R2G1 Code: THXBBX (expires 9/25/10 - 3 in cart for code to work)
R1G1 Code:  GA19B (expires 9/29/10 - 2 in cart for code to work)
Free Rental Codes:
SSD19B exp. 9/30
G419A exp. 9/30
G718A exp. unknown
G418A exp. unknown
GT17A exp. unknown
I can NOT verify that they all work but if you use one you can comment here & let us know when & where it worked.
I hope you enjoy finding out about all the different ways you can stretch your paycheck.

Fry's Coupon Policy

I did a search for Fry's coupon policy & found this:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Fry’s Food and Drug Store regarding the Coupon Policy for stores in your area. Our stores will accept Manufacturer Coupons, Internet Manufacturer “cents of”" Coupons, Internet “Dollar Off” Coupons, Fry’s In-Store Coupons, Fry’s Catalina Coupons, and Competitor Pharmacy Coupons only.Fry’s will double manufacturer coupons only. In-Store coupons are always taken at face value.Fry’s will double ‘cents of” manufacturer coupons up to $1.00 in value.

  • All coupons that are over $1.00, FREE, or state ‘Do Not Double’ are redeemed at face value.
  • A limit of three of the same coupons for the like items will be doubled. Any additional coupons for the same items will be redeemed at face value.
  • There is generally no limit on manufacturer FREE coupons however stores can limit the free coupons in order to ensure product availability for our customers.
  • The coupon refund may not exceed the price of the item including VIP discount.
  • Alcohol, Tobacco and Pharmacy coupons are accepted at face value only.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions regarding our coupon policy, please feel free to speak to store management. They will be glad to assist you.
Thanks again for writing.

Here's the answer a different customer got:

She told me she was unable to send me a copy of Fry's coupon policy in writing because it changes frequently.

But, the basics are:

They will accept:
-Manufacturer Coupons
-Internet Printable Coupons for cents or dollars off
-Fry's In Store Coupons
-Fry's Catalina Coupons
-Competitor Coupons for Rx Only
-Current Coupons-Must expire on or after the date

They will NOT accept:
-Internet Printable Coupons for free product
-Drug Store Coupons
-Competitor Store Coupons
-Expired Coupons

VIP card must be scanned before coupons can be scanned.

All coupons must be scanned by cashier. If they are not scannable, the code needs to be entered.

Will double up to 3 like coupons.

If you have more than 3 coupons, it is up to the managers discression of whether or not they will be accepted. (She said this was to make sure that the products are not wiped out, and so that everyone has the ability to obtain the product)

If you are allowed to use more than 3 like coupons, they will be taken as face value (not doubled)

If your coupon exceeds the amount of the product, you will be given the amount of the product, not the amount of the coupon.
Example: Candy are $0.99. I have a coupon for $1.00 off. They will only take $0.99 off.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

The above information was before they began accepting competitor coupons & before they started taking all manufacture coupons at $1.00 (double/triple up to $1).

When using competitor coupons, all limits and restrictions will apply. Therefore, if the coupon says limit 2, limit is 2 - if coupon says "can't be combined with any other coupon" then that still applies at Fry's.

Fry's will accept store competitor coupons from: Albertsons, Safeway, Bashas, Fresh & Easy, Walmart, Sunflower, Sprouts, Whole Foods, AJ's, Trader Joes, Food City, Ranch Market, and Target.
*Target is the newest store so some employees may not be aware of this change.

As of 9/8/2010 here is the Fry's coupon policy:
Fry's VIP Customer Loyalty called my AZ blogger friend Cents'Able Shoppin! he said:

  • All limits and restrictions apply regarding competitor coupons. The Fresh & Easy coupon does not state that the coupon comes off after manufacturer coupons, therefore, it will be taken off BEFORE your manufacturer coupons.   If, however, you use an Albertsons $10 off $100 - and it says "after coupons and all discounts", then that coupon will be after all coupons & discounts.
  • Regarding competitor coupons doubling? Competitor coupons are typically store coupons, and store coupons are not doubled.  Competitor coupons are taken at face value - if they are .75, they will be redeemed at .75.  All manufacturer coupons, however, will be taken at $1.
  • Does Fresh & Easy come off before competitor coupons? Fresh & Easy comes off before all other paper coupons - manufacturer and competitor. But after your Fry's VIP card is scanned.

So what is Fry's going to do to ensure that every store is on the same sheet of music?

Fry's in Arizona has sent out an email blast to all 18,000 store managers, front end managers, assistant managers, etc. regarding the use of competitor coupons. Unfortunately, not everyone was born to be an effective communicator.  With that being said, if you do encounter any sort of issue at the register, stop the cashier, and politely ask for the front end manager. If that manager is not up to speed on the standard, then take it higher - to the store manager. Stand your groundYOU have been informed of the policy, and Fry's wants you to know that they appreciate your loyalty.  If that store manager seems misinformed, then you have two options.  You can contact Fry's telephonically at 623-936-2100 (Customer Loyalty Department)  OR, you can email them at Frys (dot) VIP (dot) department (at) FrysFood (dot) com. The Customer Loyalty staff are supplied with Blackberies, and can answer your concern at a moments notice.

If you continue with your order, and the cashier still won't take the coupon off as requested, get the name of the cashier and/or manager, and contact Fry's Corporate Office.  Not only will they reimburse you for that mishap by crediting you for the coupon(s), they will contact that manager/cashier to re-communicate the intent of this promotion.

Alpha and Omega in theatres Friday 9/17/10

Are you taking your child(ren) to see the new animated movie Alpha and Omega this weekend?  My daughter has been waiting to see this with her best friend & is so excited that it's finally out!  If you're planning on seeing it I have some advice for you:

I just found out that the AMC Mesa Grand (on Stapley & Baseline - in the Wal Mart center) does NOT have Alpha & Omega in 2D. We were going to take my daughter & her friend tomorrow before noon for the special A.M. Cinema price of $5.25, but since it's ONLY in 3D they charge an extra $3 per ticket - making it $8.25 per person.    I also checked the prices for Cinemark & they only have it in 3D as well.

Finally, I found out that Harkins DOES have it WITHOUT the 3D & their prices end up being less than AMC because kids are $5.50 & adults are $7 before 6 pm.

If you're interested in finding out about other special pricing & promotions at Harkins & AMC Theatres check out my comparison blog between AMC & Harkins Theatres HERE.

I also did a ticket price comparison for all 4 local theaters including Cinemark, Gilbert Stadium Cinemas, Harkins, AMC, & Tempe Pollack Cinemas HERE.

I hope you enjoy finding out about all the different ways you can stretch your paycheck.

Movie Madness: Harkins vs. AMC

Money is >tight< so finding the right movie theatre is important.  The price difference between one theatre and another can be dramatic, especially if you're buying tickets for the whole family.
Here is the information I have compiled on the 2 biggest theatres in the Valley of the Sun:  Harkins & AMC.
*REFILLABLE CUPS*
Don't forget that Harkins offers refillable cups each year so after your original purchase price you can bring the cup back all year & get it refilled with soda for only $1 each.

*SPECIAL DEAL*
They also have a special deal where you get a coupon for a free medium popcorn when you buy a $25 gift card.  If you plan on spending close to $25 you get the gift card 1st thing.  Then you use it to buy your tickets & if there's anything left on the card you can use it for soda & candy to go with your FREE medium popcorn (which can be upgraded to a LARGE with a FREE refill for a minimal amount - just ask your concession cashier).

*FREE POPCORN*
If you buy their t-shirt for about $20 you get a FREE popcorn every time you either wear or show them that you own the shirt for the current year.  This is best purchased at the beginning of the year so you have more time to take advantage of this special.

*GIFT IDEA*
Last year my aunt thought of a great present idea for the teenagers & young adults on her shopping list.  She got a t-shirt & rolled it inside a refillable drink cup for the following year as a Christmas present & everyone loved it!

*WEBSITE*
Here's the Harkins Theater website so you can check out movie times & locations in your area.

Here are the promotions available at AMC:

AMC has a special promotion called A.M. Cinema where:

1. Most movies before Noon EVERY DAY of the week are only $5.25 -- unless they are 3D which is an extra $3 per ticket >:0( & is not valid on IMAX & midnight showings.

2. Most movies are only $5.25 ALL DAY Monday thru Thursday -- unless they are 3D which is an extra $3 per ticket >:0( & is not valid on IMAX & midnight showings.

*ALL THE TIME*
Get a FREE refill when you buy a large soda or popcorn, once per visit.

*WEBSITE*
Here's the AMC Theater website for showtimes & locations in your area.

Also, don't forget to sign up for their Movie Watcher club.  Here's the benefits you'll get:

1. Earn 2 points per ticket *LIMIT 4 points per Movie Watcher card, per day which means if you're going to buy more than 2 tickets you'll want to use a different Movie Watcher card for the 3rd & 4th ticket & so on.
*We didn't know about this until recently so my husband & I both have a card now which we use when we take the kids out for a movie.

2. Get a concession coupon EVERY time you buy a ticket, up to 2 coupons per Movie Watcher card, per day.  AMC calls these in-betweeners because you get them between each 10 point reward.

3. Get a coupon for a FREE SMALL POPCORN if you go see a movie on a WEDNESDAY.

4. After you earn 10 points you will get a FREE concession item, which continues at 10 point intervals which are:
  • 10 points = FREE *small popcorn (*can be upgraded to a large popcorn which can be refilled free of charge during the same visit)
  • 20 points = FREE *small soft drink (*can be upgraded to a large popcorn which can be refilled free of charge during the same visit)
  • 30 points = ExtraOffer - FREE movie ticket for future purchase OR FREE large soft drink AND FREE large popcorn (both can be refilled free of charge during same visit)

Brunswick Buck n Bowl Nights

Bowling is such a fun activity to spend time with family & friends.  Unfortunately, we don't go too often because it is awfully expensive.  Luckily, Brunswick Bowling & Billiards has Buck 'n Bowl twice a week.  This is a great deal if you're able to stay up late because it is from 9pm until close.

Every Monday night & Thursday night (at participating locations) you can get bowling, soda & hot dogs for only $1.00 each.  That's quite a bit of savings depending on how many games you bowl.  Remember, you still have to rent shoes (unless you're one of the lucky people who have their own) & don't forget to bring socks.

Here's Brunswick's Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=85724128597

MOVIE NIGHT & Kiosk Tutorial

Do you ever use kiosks to rent movies?  I have taken advantage of quite a few FREE rental codes in the last 3 months or so & only had to pay $1 once because we didn't get the movie back by 9pm the next day.

If you've already used the kiosk in the past & know where your closest Blockbuster Express kiosk is I'll cut to the chase & tell you the rental code for ONE FREE DVD RENTAL TODAY ONLY (9/13/2010):  START

Remember, this code can be used once PER debit / credit card so if you have 2 or more of these cards you can use it for each one.  Just don't forget they are due back by 9pm on the following night or you will pay a $1 late fee per day, per movie.

Here are the terms from their site:
"Code is valid thru midnight 09/13/2010. Limit one free DVD rental per customer. Not valid with any other offer. Offer good for one night rental period. Limited time offer. Extra night charges and taxes apply. May not be combined with any other offer. Not valid at Blockbuster store locations. Rental terms and conditions apply."

Strangely enough I also received an e-mail on how to get a free code from Redbox today:
"Buy any two (2) bags of TOSTITOS®, DORITOS® and/or CHEETOS® snacks (7¾ oz. or larger) in a single transaction between 8/29/10 and 9/26/10 at Walgreens and get a FREE one night rental from redbox!"

OK, now, for anyone who has not used a Blockbuster or Redbox kiosk to rent a movie here is a little bit about how to use them & where to find the nearest kiosks:
You have to have a credit or debit card to use any DVD rental kiosks.  You might be able to use a "cash card" but I haven't tried it myself.  Most rental kiosks only have regular DVDs but some have Blu-Ray DVDs for an additional fee & I heard they might start renting video games as well.  Some of these kiosks will even let you BUY a used DVD.  You can sign up for e-mail updates from both Redbox & Blockbuster on their websites.

*Note - Movie companies have "contracts" with rental companies that set a date for when a movie will be available to rent.  That means that most of the Blockbuster rental "stores" get all the movies the day they are released (which is usually Tuesday) but most of the kiosks have a waiting period, depending on the contract agreement (since they are renting them for only $1 per day as opposed to $5 for 5 days at most Blockbusters).  So, make sure you check on-line to see if the movie you want is available before you get your heart set on renting it from a kiosk.  Also, kiosks do not have older catalog movies.  They have about 50 different titles so the selection is limited.

How to rent a DVD from a kiosk:

1. Press RENT on the touch screen
2. Find the movie you want
3. Enter your rental code if you have one
4. Swipe your debit or credit card
5. Enter your e-mail address
6. Get your DVD which will be dispensed from the kiosk

How to return a DVD to a kiosk:

You can return a DVD to ANY of the same type of kiosk.  For example, if you rent a DVD from the Redbox kiosk at Fry's on your way home from work you can return it the same night at your local Redbox kiosk at Walgreens.  The same is true for Blockbuster Express kiosks.

1. Press RETURN on the touch screen
2. Insert the DVD into the slot
3. Once you see the screen has processed your return you can either leave or rent a new movie

Redbox kiosks can be found outside of some gas stations as well as McDonalds & Denny's restaurants.  They are also inside all Walgreens & Fry's stores. (Note - the Gilbert & Baseline Fry's recently moved theirs outside so they might not ALL be inside)

You can find your closest Redbox kiosk by entering your zip code here.

Blockbuster kiosks can be found outside some Circle Ks, inside Bashas grocery stores & at QuikTrip gas station / convenience stores.  The parent company of Blockbuster Express, NCR, also plans on integrating SD card movie downloading capabilities into its kiosks as digital downloading becomes more mainstream.

You can find your closest Blockbuster Express kiosk by entering your zip code here.

Both the Redbox & Blockbuster Express sites also allow you to:

1. Find out which kiosk has the movie you want
2. Reserve a movie to pick up at your preferred kiosk
3. Make a list of the movies you want to see
4. Rent on-line & pick up at your preferred kiosk

I hope you have a fun night watching your FREE movie rental.  What movie have you been waiting to see?
