This is a compilation of movie theater ticket prices for 4 different movie theaters in the Valley of the Sun.  You'll find prices for Cinemark, Harkins, AMC, Gilbert Stadium Cinemas & Tempe Pollack Cinemas. *NEW* I added prices & information on the Scottsdale 6 & Century Glendale 9 drive-in theatres which are owned by West Wind Theatres.

Movie Madness: Harkins vs. AMC

Money is >tight< so finding the right movie theatre is important.  The price difference between one theatre and another can be dramatic, especially if you're buying tickets for the whole family.

Here is the information I have compiled on the 2 biggest theatres in the Valley of the Sun:  Harkins & AMC.

*REFILLABLE CUPS*
Don't forget that Harkins offers refillable cups each year so after your original purchase price you can bring the cup back all year & get it refilled with soda for only $1 each. 


*SPECIAL DEAL*
They also have a special deal where you get a coupon for a free medium popcorn when you buy a $25 gift card.  If you plan on spending close to $25 you get the gift card 1st thing.  Then you use it to buy your tickets & if there's anything left on the card you can use it for soda & candy to go with your FREE medium popcorn (which can be upgraded to a LARGE with a FREE refill for a minimal amount - just ask your concession cashier).


*FREE POPCORN*
If you buy their t-shirt for about $20 you get a FREE popcorn every time you either wear or show them that you own the shirt for the current year.  This is best purchased at the beginning of the year so you have more time to take advantage of this special. 


*GIFT IDEA*
Last year my aunt thought of a great present idea for the teenagers & young adults on her shopping list.  She got a t-shirt & rolled it inside a refillable drink cup for the following year as a Christmas present & everyone loved it!

1. Most movies before Noon EVERY DAY of the week are only $5.25 -- unless they are 3D which is an extra $3 per ticket >:0( & is not valid on IMAX & midnight showings.   


2. Most movies are only $5.25 ALL DAY Monday thru Thursday -- unless they are 3D which is an extra $3 per ticket >:0( & is not valid on IMAX & midnight showings.

Also, don't forget to sign up for their Movie Watcher club.  Here's the benefits you'll get:


1. Earn 2 points per ticket *LIMIT 4 points per Movie Watcher card, per day which means if you're going to buy more than 2 tickets you'll want to use a different Movie Watcher card for the 3rd & 4th ticket & so on. 
*We didn't know about this until recently so my husband & I both have a card now which we use when we take the kids out for a movie.


2. Get a concession coupon EVERY time you buy a ticket, up to 2 coupons per Movie Watcher card, per day.  AMC calls these in-betweeners because you get them between each 10 point reward.


3. Get a coupon for a FREE SMALL POPCORN if you go see a movie on a WEDNESDAY.


4. After you earn 10 points you will get a FREE concession item, which continues at 10 point intervals which are:

• 10 points = FREE *small popcorn (*can be upgraded to a large popcorn which can be refilled free of charge during the same visit)
• 20 points = FREE *small soft drink (*can be upgraded to a large popcorn which can be refilled free of charge during the same visit)
